Does anyone know anything about Soy Plastic?
It was discussed on a show on the History Channel about George Washington Carver.
In the show, Henry Ford was hitting a Model T. soy plastic bumper with a baseball bat with no visible damage to it at all.
It looks like an amazing product. But google searches turn up very little about it.
Here is a little bit:
www.twelve-fiftyone.net/
And 70 years after they first started using it, it seems that in 2008 Ford will, in small part, be going back to it.

Re: Soy Plastic
Sat, December 15, 2007 - 7:58 PMIt isnt too absurd to comdemn the pertrol industry for suppressing the commercial growth of hemp.. it doesn't all die from molds! WHat TF. If I were to have eaten a half pound of dried soybeans a week.. am I plastic too? Ahhah but someone interested directly in this movement toward sustainment in the source of all plastics should blaze that trail.. I'd be another reason happier.

Re: Soy Plastic
Tue, December 18, 2007 - 1:25 PMYou can make forms of plastic from almost any hydrocarbon.
It's just a question of how many steps it takes and how cost effective it is.
However, it may not be biodegradable or eco friendly no matter what it is made from.
