Tue, January 1, 2008 - 12:47 PMNot true Alex,
Timing is everything in this life...LOL
It's the holidaze, nobody's doin nothin just yet.
Perhaps you might get the ball rolling by telling a bit about yourself.
Where are you located ?
What's your skill level?
What's your experience?
What kind of project are you wanting to get involved in?
Free labor is rarely refused.
Someone will need your help no doubt.
Sometimes it takes a little time for stuff to happen and the word to get around... -

Tue, January 1, 2008 - 3:30 PMI agree with Stephen
We do a lot, but in Oregon we wait until the snow melts and work on design.
AND, I would have the same questions as he too.

Wed, January 2, 2008 - 2:15 PMoh no i did post this here, it should'nt have taken that attitude just to get someone to even respond. if asking me questions about myself is even a response to is anyone doing anything? i didn't mean right now obviously its winter and the holidays...ive gotten responses in other tribes. not everyone thinks I'm as stupid as you do for some reason. i simply responded to my own question cuz no one else was. -

Sat, January 5, 2008 - 7:19 AMRespect for Mother Earth, Respect for ones self, Respect for Elders.
Practice, Practice, Practice.
Building homes is a lot about the energy you put into them.
Building alternatively often takes longer than standard construction.
The learning process also must often be gathered from hither and yon and from people who may be different in ways beyond just their pace of life. That said one of he best skills one can foster to build in a good way is patience and the stuff mentioned in line one.

Unfounded expectation = certain disappointment.
Good thing to ponder if you're contemplating a building project as social experiment.

Wed, January 16, 2008 - 11:19 AMAlex,
Stephen asked you some pretty important questions to help you narrow down your search into a more managable and fulfilling process. If you don't take the time to think about them and answer them true to your heart, how are we/you supposed to know what you want? Sometimes you gotta reach in before you can reach out. There are many paths and opportunities out there, but only a few might be ideal matches for you. We are not being rude, just being true.

Re: looking to help out with a project
Thu, January 17, 2008 - 9:06 PMI told a friend about this offer of "free" labor and he said he couldn't afford "free" labor. It takes too much time for him or his crew to train unskilled/experienced workers while they are trying to build and make a profit doing so. He is a rammed earth builder in AZ. Over thirty years experience so I do believe him. I know from personal experience (thirty years of building experience myself) that it takes a commitment to train someone, and it always costs more than just wages. They do offer workshops but they charge for the experience. Nothing personal, they are just trying to make a living. So, if you cant find a project willing to trainyou for free and if you have the financial resources, try some workshops. There are always plenty available.
